Moving to Confluence Cloud without Space Admin

Short answer. Space Admin is several tools in one, so there is no single replacement. Confluence Cloud now does part of it by itself — duplicating page trees, drag-and-drop in the page tree, space categories, removing access across spaces. Copying a whole space still has no built-in button. Before the move, write down the things the app kept for you: your categories, and who can reach which space.

1. Which app this is about

Atlassian ends Confluence Data Center on 28 March 2029, so every Data Center site is moving somewhere. On 12 September 2026 the Atlassian Marketplace listed Space Admin for Confluence (by Decadis AG) for Data Center only, with 359 installs and a 5.0 rating. In the migration information its maker publishes, the migration path is unknown, and there is no Cloud version on the Marketplace.

Decadis did make a Cloud app in this area, Space Tools Pro for Confluence, but its Marketplace page now says the app has been archived. If you rely on Space Admin today, ask Decadis first — they know best what, if anything, carries across.

2. Each feature, and what Confluence Cloud does by itself

Copy a whole space No built-in button. The request for it, CONFCLOUD-3191, is still "Gathering Interest". The manual route: create the new space, copy the access from the old one (below), then duplicate the page tree into it. Marketplace apps also do it — for example Copy Space for Confluence, whose listing says it does not copy page history or blog posts.
Copy, move and reorder pages and page trees Built in. You can duplicate a page together with the pages under it, also into another space (you need permission to add content in both), drag pages to a new place in the tree, and move them to another space (Atlassian's guide).
Space Shuttle navigation (categories and sub-categories) Partly. A space admin can give a space one or more categories in Space settings → Space details, and the space directory filters by them (guide). The guide describes one level of categories, with no sub-categories.
Permission browser: everything a user or group can reach An administrator can open Confluence Administration → User Access, look up a person or group and download a report of the spaces they can view and administer (article). On Premium there is also Inspect permissions, for one user on one piece of content.
Copy permissions On Premium, a space admin can copy the whole access setup from one space to another; it replaces the destination's current access rather than adding to it (guide). Copying one person's permissions to another person is not something that guide describes.
Remove a person or group from many spaces Built in: Confluence Administration → Permissions → Bulk space access. Atlassian notes it has no undo — the steps and warnings are in How to remove someone from every Confluence space at once.
Attachment cleanup service (scheduled removal of old file versions) A space admin can delete a single old version of a file, one at a time, and it cannot be restored (guide). Atlassian's guides we read describe no scheduled or bulk cleanup.

3. What the move carries, and what it does not

Three details from those pages matter for anyone who used Space Admin for permissions:

4. Write these down before you move

  1. Your Space Shuttle categories: which space sits under which category. In Cloud you will set them again as space categories.
  2. Who can reach which space, per person and per group. After the move this is the list you compare against.
  3. Group memberships, especially admin groups — see the escalation note above.
  4. Any space you copy as a template, so you know what the manual copy has to rebuild.

5. Where Space Access fits

Space Access is our app, so read this part as the maker's description. It covers one piece of Space Admin — the permission side — not copying spaces or pages. Where it helps is the access review after the move:

What it does not do, said up front: grant access in bulk, copy permissions, page-level restrictions, or anything with pages and attachments.
